Volunteer Application Form

Steps for becoming a Peers Volunteer
1) Review the Volunteer Teams list (lower down on this page) and see what might interest you. Please keep in mind that we request a minimum 6 month commitment

2) Complete the Peers volunteer application form

3) Receive a confirmation email from Peers (within 3-5 business days)

4) Come in for an interview (you will need your resume, and will be asked to fill out an application for a Criminal Record Check)

5) Peers will inform you if we are able to offer you a volunteer position, after reviewing all your details.

VOLUNTEER TEAMS

Donation Team
1. Donation Pick up
– Pick up donations with own vehicle
– Return items to Peers for sorting and organizing

2. Donation Room Management
– Source & secure donations
– Thank you letters to donors
– Organize, sort, label clothing, bedding and house ware donations
– Put together toiletry bags for Night Outreach
– Sort and organize toiletries
– Clean as required

3. Main Floor Donation Room Organization
– Clean and organize main floor donation room
– Stock room with items from donation room
– Remove old items and take to Salvation Army or WIN

Lunch Team
Week Day Lunch Cooks
– Prepare nutritious lunches for approx 20 individuals
– Cook, serve and clean up
– Package leftovers for Night Outreach

Event Team
Assist at one of our events (eg: Hot Pink, Client Feast, Coat Drive, Red Umbrella March, Memorial March for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women)
– Event planning / execution
– Fundraising
– Write donation letters
– Set up and dismantle at event
– Postering
– Decorating
– Ticket sales & general errands

Maintenance Team
1. Maintenance / Handy Person
– Minor building repairs, such as, fix ceiling fan, building shelving units
– Painting prep and painting
– Move larger furniture items within the building
– Take items to dump / recycle bins

2. Building Cleaning
(Entry, behind reception desk, kitchen, Elements & computer rooms & main floor washrooms)
(Bi weekly clean offices)
– Sweep and mop all floor areas
– Vacuum area carpets
– Empty garbage cans and recycling bins
– Clean washrooms – wipe & disinfect toilet, sink, floors and mirror
– Wipe and sanitize couch & coffee table, reception desk, main door, client phone
– Clean second floor once a week, vacuum, clean washroom, empty garbage and recycle bins

3. Other helpful clean-up tasks
– Take items to the dump
– Drop off and pick up laundry
– Spring and Fall cleaning
– Maintain outdoor plants during Spring/Summer months

Technical Team
– Computer Support
– Network support
– Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot equipment
– Load additional necessary software.

Fundraising Committee – Assisting Peers Board
– Event planning / execution
– Source and solicit funding dollars from individuals, businesses and philanthropic organizations
– Various jobs and activities around fundraising events
